ABOUT US |
Ljudska univerza Celje (Public Institution for Education and Training) is a public institution for education of adults. Organized education for adults in Celje began in 1921 with foundation of Ljudsko vseučilišče (Community Education Centre). In 1959 Delavska univerza Celje (Community College Celje) was founded for educational needs of Celje region. In 1997 Municipality Council of the City Municipality Celje passed the decree, founding public educational and training institution called Ljudska univerza Celje.
Meaning and vision of our work focuses on being a modern educational centre that is capable of following all that is new in education and is therefore capable of educating people in the sense of lifelong education. We offer formal and informal forms of education as well.
In the school year 2003/2004 language and computer training have been greatly renovated. In the area of formal education two new programs have been introduced – Preschool education (SSI) and Preschool education (PT). Among novelties study circles, more people available for tutoring and Centre for Independent Learning can be mentioned. Recently the Heavy Building Machinery programme has been renovated and new elements have been added in the area of secondary school education. In the area of informal education new classes and workshops, such as Office for Entrepreneurs, Rhetoric, Emotional Intelligence and Accounting have been added. In the school year 2006/07 we are starting with new programs of informal education.
We place large emphasis on the field of personal and business excellence. Our participants will be able to take L-driving school of personal communication and a workshop in neuro-linguistic programming (NLP). We also offer yoga and Tai Chi. In 2005 we joined several Phare projects that included people working in small and medium business, and unemployed. Project work is also the future of our work which is connected mainly with international projects. In April 2007 Ljudska univerza Celje organized a multilateral project Cultural Bridge that included young people from five countries. The project included a social element, because deaf people were cooperating in the project.
We see large opportunities in lifelong education. Each year we organise more and more educational activities that reach a large target group (from young to the eldest). Centre for Independent Learning and Knowledge Stock Exchange are also available to visitors of all age groups. The later was introduced in 2006 to Celje and wider Celje region for the first time.
